Everyone today knows that global warming can be very harmful. Well, did you know people from a LONG time ago knew about it too? Yep, apparently people have discovered Jurassic records that warn the risks to marine life from global warming! Researchers at Plymouth University believe that findings from fieldwork along the North Yorkshire coast reveal strong parallels between the Early Jurassic era of 180 million years ago and current climate predictions over the next century. They've shown higher temperatures and lower oxygen levels that caused drastic changes to marine communities. Professor Richard Twitchett said that, "our study of fossil marine ecosystem shows that if global warming is severe enough and lasts long enough it may cause the extinction of marine life, which irreversibly changes the composition of marine ecosystems." They studied the different sedimentary rocks and marine fossils to see if it would help them in any way. The team found a 'dead zone' recorded in the rock, which showed virtually no signs of life and contained no fossils. There will a return of life with new species, soon to come.
I chose to write about this article because it seemed interesting to me. It seemed interesting to me because it amazed me that very long ago, people knew of the risks that could happen to marine life from global warming. They knew what would happen. That is a good thing, now people will research and try to help out. We can help out the earth even more. It's like this crying dolphin here on the top. It sees all the things happening to his home, now it's sad. No one likes to see their home, full of trash. People know that the dolphin is suffering, but they don't know how to help him. People are researching now to try and save the ocean. Now the dolphin won't have to cry anymore and he'll have more friends. That is what is happening in this article.
Sometimes you wonder what would happen if we just let it be. What if we left the problem there and the global warming destroy our ocean? This is what would have happened. Marine life would start dying out. We wouldn't be able to fish or get food from the ocean anymore. There would be trash all over our beaches and everywhere, for that matter. We wouldn't think anything of it and our younger generations wouldn't think it. After that, everything will all go downhill. That is why we need to do everything we can to stop global warming and other things as well. Well, it looks like I'm all done with my ScraMS. Now I can go back to some other things I need to get done. Thank you for always reading my articles and I hope to see you reading the ones I make in the future. I'll see you later. Peace!
